Hellaby Hall stands just off the M18 at Bramley, a few minutes from Rotherham, and it has one of the most distinctive frontages in South Yorkshire. The house was built around 1690 for Richard Fretwell, and its limestone face is topped by a broad Dutch-style gable with curling scrolled ends, which helped earn it a Grade II* listing. After a period of decline it was restored and reopened as a hotel in the 1990s, and it now offers 89 bedrooms alongside a spa and leisure club.
The hall is licensed for civil ceremonies, and weddings centre on its large ballroom, which handles celebrations from around 50 up to 200 guests. Because there is a single ballroom, you are the main event on the day rather than one of several parties sharing the building. Plenty of parking and a dedicated wedding coordinator make the logistics simple for families coming in from Sheffield, Doncaster and further afield.

The ballroom has its own dance floor, so the evening party usually follows on in the same room after the wedding breakfast.
