Planning a Wedding at The Milner York
The Milner York is the grand Victorian railway hotel right beside York station, with the city walls and Minster just across the road. Unusually for a city-centre hotel, it has around three acres of landscaped gardens with fountains, which gives photographers green space and Minster views without leaving the grounds. With well over 150 bedrooms and a bridal suite, it is a straightforward choice for couples whose guests are travelling by train.
There is a room for most guest numbers. The Oak Room, with its panelling and garden views, is the main ceremony and wedding breakfast room, seating around 120 for dinner. The Ebor Room, with big windows over the gardens, suits smaller weddings, and the first-floor Crown and Wedgewood rooms keep plenty of period detail for ceremonies and meals. For the evening, the hotel can host dinner and dancing for up to about 250. Ceremonies here take place indoors in the licensed rooms.

Evening receptions at The Milner finish at midnight, so we build the running order backwards from that time to make sure your first dance, any surprise moments and the last song all land at the right point. Depending on which room you dine in, the party may move to a separate space or follow a turnaround, and we time our set-up around it so there is no long gap.
