About two miles outside the market town of Thirsk, in the open countryside between the North York Moors and the Dales, Thirsk Lodge Barns is a group of connected farm buildings that have been turned into a stylish, exclusive-use wedding venue. Landscaped courtyards link the spaces together, and a meadow stretches out beyond.
The heart of the venue is the Main Barn, which holds a civil licence and seats up to 140 for the ceremony. Floor-to-ceiling windows look out over wildflower fields, so the view does a lot of the decorating for you. Couples who would rather say their vows outdoors can use the courtyard or the meadow instead. Alongside the Main Barn you will find the Wheelhouse, the Bar and a separate Dining Room, which means the day can move from one space to the next without guests waiting around for a room to be turned. Accommodation is part of the appeal too: on extended bookings the Laundry Cottage serves as a honeymoon suite and The Farmhouse sleeps up to nine, while Woodhill Grange sleeps eight more.
How the Evening Works at Thirsk Lodge Barns
Once dinner is finished in the Dining Room, the Main Barn becomes the evening space, holding up to 200 guests for the party. Because the ceremony room has already been cleared during the meal, the dancefloor is set and waiting when you walk back in, which keeps the momentum going. As the light fades over the fields, our uplighting warms the barn, and the all-white DJ booth sits neatly in front of those huge windows. Cold spark fountains can frame your first dance if the venue gives the go-ahead.
