Getting Married at Birdsall House
Birdsall House is a family home on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds, near Malton and around 20 miles from York. It stands on an early monastic site and was enlarged by the Victorian architect Anthony Salvin, and the gardens still hold the ruins of an 11th century church. Each wedding has exclusive use of the house, and a wedding planner is included to help shape the day.
There is a lovely range of ceremony options. Religious ceremonies take place in the church in the grounds, while civil ceremonies can be held among the ancient ruins in the gardens or in one of six reception rooms in the house. The wedding breakfast is served in the Ballroom for up to 150 guests. Six en-suite bedrooms are kept for the bridal party, and there is plenty of other accommodation in the surrounding area.
Your Evening Party at Birdsall House
The evening at Birdsall has a real personality. The party moves into the renovated Victorian kitchen rooms, styled as a 1920s prohibition-era members’ club, with space for up to 200 guests. It is a brilliant setting for a dancefloor, and the music can lean into the theme as much or as little as you like. We plan the changeover with the venue team so the all-white DJ booth and uplighting suit the character of the rooms, adding warmth without losing that speakeasy mood. If you would like cold spark fountains for your first dance, we check with the house whether they are permitted. Our team plans each Birdsall House wedding DJ set around the evening flow, and we confirm finish times and sound levels with the venue team before the day.

Your evening reception at Birdsall House
Country house weddings combine elegant rooms with a proper party, and Birdsall House does both well. Period rooms at venues like Birdsall House can have their own rules on power, equipment placement and finishing times. We confirm all of this with the venue team before your date, so set-up is smooth, the equipment looks tidy, and our all-white booth fits the style of the room.
