Planning your wedding at Oakwell Hall? Our team has worked at Oakwell Hall, in Birstall, near Batley, West Yorkshire, so when you book Events DJ as your wedding DJ you get someone who already understands the venue, the rooms and how the day flows.
Getting Married at Oakwell Hall
Oakwell Hall in Birstall, near Batley, is a Grade I listed Elizabethan manor house, thought to date from around 1583 when it was built for John Batt. It has a famous literary link too: Charlotte Brontë visited and used the house as the model for Fieldhead in her novel Shirley. Today the hall is surrounded by around 110 acres of country park, so it feels green and peaceful despite being so close to the towns of West Yorkshire.
Civil ceremonies take place inside the house itself, among the dark panelling and period rooms, with space for around 60 guests. That makes it a natural choice for couples who want an intimate, characterful ceremony rather than a big formal hall. The reception then moves to the barn on site, giving you a more relaxed space for dinner, speeches and the evening celebrations, and the country park offers plenty of spots for photographs before the party begins.
How We Plan Your Evening at Oakwell Hall
The barn is where the evening comes together, and we plan the layout with the venue team so there is a clear dancefloor, a sensible spot for the bar and room for guests to sit and chat. Our all-white DJ booth suits the rustic setting, and warm uplighting helps the barn feel cosy as the light fades over the park. If cold spark fountains appeal for your first dance, we check with the venue that they can be used. Because Oakwell Hall is a historic site within a public country park, it is worth being clear on the house rules, and your Oakwell Hall wedding DJ will confirm finish times and sound levels with the venue team before the day.
