Egton Manor is in Egton Bridge, a few miles inland from Whitby, at the heart of a 6,000-acre estate in the North York Moors National Park. The Grade II listed house has belonged to the Foster family since 1869 and is still their home, with Laura and Olly Foster running the weddings. Its gardens and lawns run down to the banks of the River Esk, which makes for wonderfully peaceful photographs.
The manor takes only a limited number of weddings each year, so every couple has the whole house to themselves. Several rooms are licensed for ceremonies and receptions, and the feel of the day changes beautifully with the seasons. In autumn and winter, log fires and cosy interiors set a warm, intimate mood, while summer weddings often add a marquee on the lawn, with guests free to wander the gardens. Couples can book all of the bedrooms for two nights, turning the wedding into a proper weekend, and the food is built around local, seasonal produce.

For a winter wedding the party usually stays inside the house, and we plan a compact, well-placed setup that fits the rooms without overwhelming them.
